Bulgar mountains in Turkey

There are two Bulgar mountains in Turkey. One is in the middle Taurus mountains near Adana city. And the other is in the Eastern Blacksea region..

Famous poet Karacaoğlan has mentioned about that in his poems.

Yörü, behey Bulgar Dağı!
Senden yüce dağ olma mı?
Sende yaylayan güzelin,
Yanakları ağ olma mı?

Bulgar Dağı iki çatal.
Arasında güller biter.
Bir yiğide bir yar yeter,
İki seven del'olma mı?

Bulgar Dağı pare pare.
Kim'al giyer, kimi kare,
Selam eylen nazlı yare,
Ayrılanlar bir olma mı?

Yol üstünde iki hanlar,
Hani sana konan canlar?
Sevip sevip ayrılanlar,
Yanıp yanıp kül olma mı?

Karac'oğlan, seni gördüm;
Düşümü hayıra yordum.
Bugün güzellere sordum,
Bencileyin kul olma mı.

Eteğinde kervan işler,
Yükseğinde döner kuşlar.
Kürk geydirir, at bağışlar
Hemen beğler sende m'olur?

Yaylası ufak tepeler!
Yağar yağmur, kar sepeler.
Kulakta altın küpeler,
Hemen güzel sende m'olur?

Karac'oğlan, düz ovalar.
Şahanın keklik kovalar.
İnil inil taş yuvarlar,
Koca seller sende m'olur?

Bulgar mountain in the Eastern Blacksea Region:

According to Prof. Dr. Necati DEMİR; in the article “Canik, as a geographical region and historical background” says that: “Bulgar mountain has been mentioned in the book of Danismend-name for three times.” (Demir, Danişmend-name, s 59,139,193)

When Fatih Sultan Mehmed II went to conquer the Trabzon city, he was faced with the mother of Uzun Hasan Sara / Saru Hatun at the Bulgar mountain. (Fahrettin Kırzıoglu, History and the Conquest of Trabzon , Publications of Trabzon Municipality, Ankara 2001, pages 128-133)

“After that he has climbed to the Bulgar mountain and went on foot. (Atsız, Asıkpasa Tarihi, MEB yayınları, İstanbul 1992, s 135-138)

There are Barkhal town and Barkhal stream in the east, that bound to Yusufeli district of Artvin province,; and there are Barkhal river and Bulgar meadow on the road of Erzincan in the South.

In the registration notebooks of Trabzon city, dated 1554, it is clearly registrated that Bulgar nonmuslim families have been lived in the Torul town (M. Hanefi Bostan, XV-XVI. Asırlarda Trabzon sancağında Sosyal ve İktisadi Hayat, TTK yayınları, Ankara, s 340)
